EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING
Minutes for
November 14, 2005
Cleveland High School Alumni Meeting Room
The meeting was called to order by president, Dave Voll, at 11:30 AM.
Present: Ted Amato, Odis Avritt, Gary Bishop, Paul Cook, Pat Dannen, Kari Freeman, Joe Gatto, Bill Love, Roy Love, Dennis Maloney, Jean Miller, Bryce Rickson, Dave Voll
Parent-teacher conferences will be held on November 22, 2005 from 1 to 4 PM and 5:30 to 8:30 PM. Students will have half a day of classes on both November 22 and 23.
State level competition was earned by volleyball, girls’ soccer and cross country teams. Currently, the OSAA reclassification of districts will place Cleveland in the 5A category.
The holiday music performances are on December 13 at 7 PM for the band and December 15 at 7 PM for the choir. The holiday break will be from December 17, 2005 through January 2, 2006. School resumes on January 3, 2006
Budget/Finance—No report
Boosters—Bill Love reported that three plaques have been donated by the Booster Club for the induction of three new members to the Hall of Fame in 2006. A discussion on Merit Awards will continue.
Communications—Bryce Rickson indicated that the fall newsletter will soon be on the website.
Golf—Ted Amato reported that discussion is beginning for the CCHSAA 2006 Golf Tournament site and the function the night before.
Membership—Dave Voll reported that the 90th Celebration mailer has increased our overall membership by 75 new members. The Membership Committee is mailing out 1,175 membership forms to five different classes lists
Scholarship—Jean Miller reported that the spring luncheon will be on May 25, 2006 at the Monarch Hotel. There will be a raffle as part of the program. The Committee is continuing discussion into ways to increase the amount of money committed to scholarships. A motion was made and seconded to increase by $1,000 the amount of money held in the CCHSAA treasury designated toward scholarships. The motion passed.
Board Development—No report
PTA—Kari Freeman reported that the next meeting will be November 17, 2005. Currently, they have a pool of 500 volunteers. Their meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday. They alternate between the PTA Resource Room at 3:15 PM and in the Library at 7 PM. This alternates on a month-to-month basis. The PTA Board has expanded to include members from the Booster Club, the Auction Committee, and the Foundation. The 2006 auction at Oaks Park will be March 4, 2006. 6. Topics of Discussion and Updates:
Field Renovation Project: No report
90th Year Celebration: Dennis Maloney reported that there is a possibility that the DVD for the 90th Celebration could include music.
Alumni Calendar: Jean Miller reported that we have 225 calendars left to sell. She is contacting other school groups to assist in selling these calendars.
Fall Edition of the “Alumni News”: A discussion was held regarding the size of the spring edition of the paper. A motion was made and seconded that this edition would be a four-sided, one sheet paper. The motion passed. Articles attached to an e-mail expedite the preparation of materials for the paper.
Golf Challenge: Odis Avritt reported that the week prior to the Cleveland-Franklin football game in the fall of 2006, there will be an alumni golf tournament between Cleveland-Franklin alumni. There would be a joint breakfast event on the Thursday morning prior to the game to honor the senior football players from both schools. Planning for these events is in the process.

Board of Directors’ Meeting will be Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 7 p.m. at Cleveland High School Library.
